How to summon the courage to file bankruptcy

I wonder about this question a lot. If you think it doesn’t take courage to file bankruptcy, you have never done it. My mom used to say that about raising children. She would say, “if you think raising children is easy, you have never done it.” My mom was right about that! Let me ask you a question. When you go to the doctor, and get a physical, do you like doing so? Of course not. We humans are private people and we would prefer not to be exposed. And yet we still go to the doctor. Why? Because we want to protect our health.

The same reasoning hold true for our financial health. Financial health also impacts on our physical and mental health as well. They are all intertwined. I have had plenty of people tell me over the years that after bankruptcy they felt physically and mentally much better. Why? Because bankruptcy is like a medicine. Yes, it doesn’t taste great. But, it solves a debt problem really fast and that is the point of it all. That is why the bible called for debt forgiveness every 7 years, which is why the US Constitution calls for bankruptcy, and that is why Congress enacted laws to control the process of filing bankruptcy.

But sometimes, all we need is human confirmation I will be ok after filing bankruptcy. Did you know not one of our clients has seriously ever regretted the decision to file bankruptcy? In fact, they would all tell you something you don’t expect to hear from someone who has filed bankruptcy---they would tell you their only regret is waiting so long before filing.
