A Credit Repair Specialist can help you start rebuilding your credit as efficiently as possible. The program’s services can be performed at any time, but are free for the first 90 days after discharge.
First, we will check to see if any judgments exist against you. Judgment debts are discharged in a bankruptcy, but there are extra steps that need to be taken in order to get them officially discharged with the county courts. If you choose to have us remove a judgment, you will be charged the court costs of removal, usually around $50 per judgment.
Second, we will help make sure your credit report is accurate. Thirty days after discharge, clients should pull their credit reports from each of the reporting agencies—Transunion, Equifax, and Experian—to make sure they are accurate. We can help you dispute any inaccuracies with the relevant credit bureau. It takes approximately 30 days for a credit bureau to respond to any disputes.
Once these things are taken care of, the client should apply for a credit card or secured bank card to start building credit again. Credit reports are pulled when you apply for a card, which does slightly lower your credit score, so it is important to be in as good of shape as possible before this step.
