what_do_i_need_to_file_bankruptcySome of the most important documents that you will get from us will be the sign-up packet received after your initial consultation. If one of our attorney’s recommends bankruptcy for your situation, they will provide you with all of the documents you will need to 1) retain our services and 2) prepare for your second meeting with us: the review & sign.

For an in-office initial consultation, these documents will be provided in a folder for you to take home. If your initial consultation is over-the-phone or via Skype or Facetime, the attorney will ask if you would prefer to receive these documents in the mail or via e-mail and will get those sent out ASAP. Either way, the same documents are included.

These documents will take you through the basics of the Kain & Scott process as well as the specifics of a Chapter 7 or 13, depending on what you and our attorney discussed. The folder will also include information about our credit repair program and the necessary information to complete your credit counseling courses.

If you have received these documents in office, the attorney will go over our retainer agreement, the bankruptcy code, and other documents that require a signature and have you sign in office, if you so choose.

The most important document in the sign up folder is the checklist. This will be filled out by the attorney in office with you or, for a phone or Skype consultation, by our sign-up specialist with information provided by the intake sheets filled out by the attorney during your meeting.

These documents indicated on the checklist are what we need for your review & sign meeting and to get your case filed. All of the other sign-up documents can be dealt with in office, but the checklist cannot. Treat the checklist and the listed documents on it as gold! The more complete a checklist our team has at your review & sign appointment, the faster your case will be filed.
